Taquería el Paisa - Escandón
Located in the Escandón neighborhood, "El Paisa" is a go-to spot for those seeking very good tacos cooked in the traditional choricera (metal taco pit): suadero, longaniza, and the classic campechanos. It’s the perfect place for night owls or to satisfy late-night cravings in a purely street-food setting.
The special touch that sets them apart is that the tortilla is lightly fried in the meat's juices until it gets slightly crispy, providing a very tasty "crunch" that contrasts perfectly with the juicy suadero. It’s a simple detail that greatly enhances the traditional street-stall taco experience.
Comidista Tip: Order the campechano (suadero mixed with longaniza sausage); it is one of the place's true gems, and the combination of textures with the crispy tortilla is excellent.
You can find them at a metal street stall on the corner of José Martí and Francisco Murguía. Service is fast, and the nightly crowd gives the corner its authentic neighborhood personality.
