Tacos de Lengua Don Pepe

Don Pepe's Tacos de Lengua, in the south of Mexico City, are a local legend; they have been preparing very good, slow-cooked, tender beef tongue for over 50 years. Each taco comes with a generous slice, a spoonful of their flavorful red salsa, onion, and cilantro; a squeeze of lime is optional.

The suadero and campechano tacos are also good, but the tongue is definitely the star of the show.

Comidista Tip: Order at least 3 tacos to start; if you’re still hungry and want more, you’ll have to wait a while due to the crowd.

These are night-only tacos and usually have a long line, but the wait is worth it to taste a classic of this caliber.
